Packaged HVAC Units in Salem, OR
In many residential units, your cooling system is “split.” We refer to these systems this way because they consist of two units—one indoors and one outdoors. The inside unit absorbs heat and blows your cool, conditioned air through your ductwork while the outdoor unit exhausts the heat and houses integral parts of this system. Commercial buildings need a different type of air conditioner because of the large space they’re responsible for cooling—the packaged unit. This type of system is now available for residential homes too, and in some cases it can be an even better system for your home.
We install packaged units for homes across the Greater Salem Area here at Advantage Heating & Air Conditioning. If you need a packaged HVAC unit for your residential work or your light commercial work, make sure to contact our team.

We Provide a Variety of Packaged Units
We provide both packaged heat pumps and gas packaged units at our company. Packaged air conditioners work in the same way as typical split air conditioners. A compressor circulates refrigerant between a set of coils, one that absorbs heat, one that releases it, and an air handler to send air into your vents. What makes a packaged air conditioner, or a packaged heat pump, unique is that they house all of this in one place—an outdoor cabinet.
We specialize in gas packaged units (commonly referred to as Gas Packs) here at Advantage Heating & Air Conditioning. We prefer to fit homes here in Salem with gas packaged units because of their clean-burning efficiency and high-power heating that can really keep your home warm during these cold and gloomy Mid-Valley winters. If you want to know more about packaged units then make sure to contact our team.
The Advantages of a Packaged HVAC System
So why should you go with a packaged HVAC unit?
- Quiet Operation: A packaged HVAC unit creates very little indoor noise because of its location and set up. Packaged units typically go on the roof of your space away from the areas of day to day life.
- Space Saving: If you have limited space but want substantial cooling power a packaged unit is a great option. No part of your packaged HVAC unit has to go inside your home or even take up too much space outside of your home.
- Ease of Service: Since all the components of your packaged HVAC units are housed in one place, the maintenance and repair services are much easier than those of a split system. Packaged units are out of sight and out of mind too, so services performed won’t interfere with your daily operation.
