Why Go with a Furnace?
So why should you choose a furnace? Well, they:
- Energy Efficient: Today’s furnaces have great AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) ratings. The higher the rating, the more heat a furnace can deliver relative to the amount of heat consumed. Standard furnaces are about 78-85% AFUE, but the Lennox, Daikin, and Ruud furnaces we use can have even higher ratings.
- Cost Effective: Since the AFUE ratings are so high, you’ll spend less money to get great quality heating in your home.
- Reliable: As long as you treat your furnace well it should last you anywhere from 10 to 15 years. A good lifespan for your initial investment!
Gas or Electric? The Big Decision
When you’re choosing a furnace for your home the biggest decision you have to make is selecting your fuel source.
Gas Furnaces: A gas furnace is a great option and usually thought of as the superior choice. If your home already runs on gas, we’d recommend that you take this route. Gas is less expensive and a powerful fuel source for combating cold.
Electric Furnaces: Electric furnaces aren’t as common in colder climates, but they can still be a good option if your home doesn’t have a gas line for heating. An electric furnace costs more to run but it’s less expensive to install upfront. They also are less of a risk to your health than a gas furnace because there’s no process of heat combustion.
